The Lamanites were mean and oppressive to Limhi's people, but there wasn't much Limhi's people could do about it. They tried three different times to run the Lamanites out of the land, and it was a disaster every time. After the third time, they resigned themselves to wait on the Lord. They prayed a lot, and eventually Ammon found them. Initially, Limhi thought Ammon's group was Noah's priests, which is why he threw them in jail. But after that, they all started working together to plan their escape, and Gideon came up with the idea to get the Lamanite guards drunk so Limhi's people could sneak out of town. They did that, and Ammon led them to Zarahemla, where King Mosiah welcomed them with open arms. The Lamanites sent an army after Limhi's people, but they got lost in the wilderness.
